GMSR continues its tradition of advocacy before the California Supreme Court

It’s been a busy few weeks for GMSR:  Both of GMSR’s co-managing partners appeared before the California Supreme Court on behalf of the firm’s clients.

On May 20, Cindy Tobisman argued for the petitioner in Gorobets v. Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (S287946), a case addressing the validity of certain settlement offers under Code of Civil Procedure section 998.

Then, on June 3, Ted Xanders argued for the Town of Apple Valley in Town of Apple Valley v. Apple Valley Ranchos Water (S289391), a closely watched eminent domain case involving a municipality’s acquisition of a public utility.

Appearing before California’s highest court is always a privilege.  Having two GMSR partners argue separate Supreme Court cases within a matter of weeks reflects the firm’s reputation for handling consequential appeals and its longstanding commitment to helping clients navigate complex legal issues at the highest levels of the judicial system.

With oral arguments now complete, both cases have been submitted for decision, and opinions are expected within 90 days of argument.
