GMSR successfully defended its client’s trial court victory against its former managing member, who had forged corporate documents to secretly encumber GMSR’s client’s property with a $4 million hard money loan.
On appeal, the former managing member challenged the trial court’s terminating sanctions order and the resulting default judgment. The Court of Appeal rejected his arguments, holding that the trial court acted well within its discretion in sanctioning him for willfully disobeying multiple deposition orders and finding no merit to his claim of duplicative recovery.
