Feris M. Greenberger

Feris M. Greenberger has a passion for sifting through details and searching for answers to knotty legal questions.  Those qualities led her to a career in appellate law.  In more than 30 years at GMSR, she has shaped, briefed and argued hundreds of appeals and writs.  Feris also assists trial attorneys with critical motions and litigation strategy, both in cases that are headed to appeal and in matters that have returned to the trial court after an appellate win.

Her appellate successes have ranged over a broad variety of legal subjects, including torts, insurance, contracts, real property, constitutional law, statutory interpretation, family law, and civil procedure.  Feris has appeared in the California Supreme Court, in every district of the California Court of Appeal, and in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.

Feris received her law degree from UCLA School of Law, where she served as an editor of UCLA Law Review.  She received her BA in Politics, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, from the University of Southern California.  Fresh out of law school, she served as Research Attorney for Justice Otto M. Kaus in the year of his appointment to the California Supreme Court and assisted him in the transition.  Before joining GMSR, she taught legal writing for three years at USC’s Gould School of Law.

Feris has been active on the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s State Appellate Judicial Nominations Committee.  She was a consultant on the CEB Practice Guide, Civil Appellate Practice (3d ed. 1996).
